Today is day 27 or 28 of the 33-day consecration to Mary, depending on whether you were ending on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. We have less than a week left! Thank you for praying and reading. If you said the consecration prayer every day, great! If you missed some days, I’m sure you are being blessed. I’m sure there are benefits for saying the prayer even once! For Mass on Monday and Tuesday, the Responsorial Psalm said, “Justice shall flourish in His time and fullness of peace forever.” You know how the meaning of a sentence can change depending on the word you stress? I stressed the word “His” as I said it and heard something I hadn’t considered. Justice should flourish in His time, but with our free will, we might hinder the justice He wanted us to have right now. After that Psalm, I had to ask the Lord how I was blocking Him. There are many things that can block, especially our sins and pride. But I consider lack of forgiveness as a big block. I spent a lot of time after yesterday’s Mass telling the Lord I was forgiving all kinds of people in His name. I forgave saying, “They know not what they do.” And I asked God to forgive me of things with those people, admitting that I also “know not.” This forgiveness strategy has been given to me by a couple of priests, and it works very well: forgiving in Jesus’ name with the same words Jesus used on the cross. I asked God for my forgiveness too. Often we are blind to how we either provoked people into their sin or reacted to others’ injustice with our own sin. There are splinters and logs in my eyes too. After my forgiveness exercise yesterday, I felt a lot of relief. Justice will flourish in His time, but we also have to cooperate. I pray we can consecrate to Mary everything in our hearts, including the grudges and unforgiveness that can seem very hard to drop. Holy Mary, pray with us for the release of the justice we have blocked. Today, we consecrate ourselves, our families, our nation and our church. A Solemn Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Most Holy Virgin Mary, tender Mother of men, to fulfill the desires of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the request of the Vicar of Your Son on earth, we consecrate ourselves and our families to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and we recommend to You, all the people of our country and all the world. Please accept our consecration, dearest Mother, and use us as You wish to accomplish Your designs in the world. O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and Queen of the World, rule over us, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Our King. Save us from the spreading flood of modern paganism; kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of a virtuous life, an ardent zeal for souls, and a desire to pray the Rosary more faithfully. We come with confidence to You, O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love. Inflame us with the same Divine Fire which has inflamed Your own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. Make our hearts and homes Your shrine, and through us, make the Heart of Jesus, together with your rule, triumph in every heart and home. Amen. --Venerable Pope Pius XII
