Today is day 15 or 16 of the 33-day consecration to Mary, depending on whether you were ending on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. Last night, I got the kids home from school and the world came crashing down. It crashes down every night after school. That’s when the family needs dinner, cleaned out lunch boxes, new lunches made, laundering of school uniforms and homework done. I also remembered it was trash and recycling night. And then I remembered that one kid needs to pack for a slumber party. I was feeling the weight of all the things, plus the kids were asking for help. “I am really busy right now!” I said. And then my tone intensified. “And you are not even helping!” As went into my room to put away socks, I felt the tug of the Lord wanting to talk. “I feel horrible right now,” I told Him. I took inventory of what I was feeling: Overwhelmed. And then all of a sudden, a light went on in my head: the Lord had just tugged on my heart! “Wait. That means you’re here. You’re HERE! So…I don’t have to worry about any of this stuff. You’re handling all this work. You have all of this covered!” The Lord said, “Yes…” I’m pretty sure He was laughing. My feeling of stress faded away and it was replaced with joy! Thinking of things as being handled by God, I got almost everything I usually need to do in record time. One of my kids gave me the miracle of actually tasting something before saying she didn’t like it! The other found out something I bought fit her beautifully and she felt beautiful too. And then my family had time for a family game before bed. The Lord was here. He had it covered. I didn’t need to stress at all. I’m praying for when we feel overwhelmed and think everything’s on our shoulders. The Lord reminded me of His presence. He’s always present. And He’s got this. May we trust in that through Mary’s intercession. Matthew 6:30 “If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the oven tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?” Today, we consecrate to Mary ourselves, our families, our nation and our church. A Solemn Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Most Holy Virgin Mary, tender Mother of men, to fulfill the desires of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the request of the Vicar of Your Son on earth, we consecrate ourselves and our families to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and we recommend to You, all the people of our country and all the world. Please accept our consecration, dearest Mother, and use us as You wish to accomplish Your designs in the world. O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and Queen of the World, rule over us, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Our King. Save us from the spreading flood of modern paganism; kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of a virtuous life, an ardent zeal for souls, and a desire to pray the Rosary more faithfully. We come with confidence to You, O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love. Inflame us with the same Divine Fire which has inflamed Your own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. Make our hearts and homes Your shrine, and through us, make the Heart of Jesus, together with your rule, triumph in every heart and home. Amen. --Venerable Pope Pius XII
